Murphy @ 16 months

Murphy has spent a good portion of his month back and forth to the doctor's office. He has had some issues with his belly that we just couldn't figure out. At this point things seem to be getting better and it appears that he may just be highly lactose intolerant. Poor guy can no longer have his favorite food- Mac & Cheese! he has grown an 1 1/2 inches but lost weight due to his bad belly so we are working on fattening him back up. He still has been a bit whiny but I will cut him some slack since he has been sick. He still grunts more than he talks but can identify a few body parts (nose, belly, teeth). He loves to be outside and will stand at the door grunting until you take him out- not so great when it is 100+ degrees! He still loves balls and empties the bucket of balls all of the time. He also likes to push the toy mower and has started to ride the little bike- he has even had a few crashes down the hill!

Back to School Birthday Bash

Hadley had a "Back to School Bash" for her birthday. It was wild and crazy with eight 9 year old girls running around! We were so busy that I was only able to snap a few photos. We entertained them with lots of activities including:

school supply scavenger hunt

outside games

lunch

pencil walk

cops and robbers

make your own tie-dye cake

trampoline fun

make your own slime

guess the number of M & M's in the jar

candy bar game

When it was all said and done all the girls seemed to have a good time but my house was a mess and I was definitely in need of some quiet because let me tell you-

Watering Hole

Oh! This water is COLD!

We found this "watering hole" that came with its very own waterfall- imagine that!? The kids had so much fun playing in the very cold mountain water. I wish I could get one of these in my backyard!

Dry Falls

Apparently Jackson County, NC is the land of the waterfalls. This one is called "Dry Falls" and it is easily accessible. You can even walk right underneath the falls. 

Sunset Rock

We took a quick trip to the mountains of NC over the weekend. It was nice to escape the heat of SC for a few days. We our not really a "hiking" family but we found an easy hike up to "Sunset Rock" that the little guys could do. When we got to the top there were some good puddles in the crevices so the little guys had fun splashing around in them- of course that meant they were soaking wet for the walk down but that didn't seem to trouble them. Whit was a good hiker but Murphy needed to be carried most of the way. Not great for my persnickety back so I think we will put hiking on the back burner until all members can haul themselves up and down the mountain.
