Happy Elf

Murphy's "My 1st Christmas" photos. Believe it or not I have a picture of all of my babies wearing this silly hat. It has held up pretty good considering my oldest "baby"is almost 16- WOW! Now I feel OLD! I guess this is our family "heirloom". Something tells me the kids won't be fighting over this hat when we kick it!

Today it's Your Birthday!!!

Brett got this new coat just in time for the Arctic blast that hit us this week.BRRRR!!!

We took Krispy Kreme donuts to share with Brett's class at school. They were a big hit and not too messy. Brett got to be the "Terrific Kid" all week and he got a special prize from the prize box.

Celebrating with a simple cake and a few presents

Can't believe this munchkin is 6! He is a BIG kindergartener now and learning all kinds of new stuff at school. We miss having him around during the day- especially Whit. Brett is a super sweet kid, a little sensitive at times but I hear the girls like the sensitive guys. As a matter of fact he is already procuring phone numbers from first grade girls on the bus! He loves soccer and video games and action figures and has recently found a passion for basketball. I guess it runs in the family- to bad the height gene doesn't! We all love him so much and wish him a very happy day!

Decorating the Tree

I was being Scrooge and really not looking forward to getting the Christmas Tree because I knew that Murphy would "LOVE" pulling the branches and sticking his hands in the water. Plus, I wasn't looking forward to vacuuming up pine needles everyday. I lobbied for a small artificial tree that could sit on a table but no one liked that idea. So, they won and went out on Saturday morning and got the tree. With my luck it will be infested with some kind of nasty bugs that will invade my house (I have had friends who have had this problem in the past) and the way the way things have been going around here lately, it wouldn't surprise me! Anyway, the kids had fun decorating it and it does look "pretty" with all of our kid-made ornaments- no Martha Stewart here! I just hope Murphy doesn't topple it over before Christmas.

Murphy the Menace

It is happening! No longer is Murphy content to sit quietly on my lap. He barely tolerates sitting still long enough to finish his bottle. He is a man on the move and looks for trouble wherever he can find it (I fear he has been spending too much time with Whit!). He loves electrical cords, tiny pieces of dirt, fuzz, leaves etc. on the floor that have been tracked in the house, the fireplace, the dogs tails and now the Christmas Tree! So, I have another obstacle to keep him away from for the next 2 weeks!

GIngerbread/Ant Houses

Hadley was home from school on Monday so to keep her entertained I let her decorate a Gingerbread House. Her trusty assistant, Whitaker, helped but was more interested in eating the candy than putting them on the house (there's one in every crowd!). It turned out cute but to our dismay we woke up the next morning and found a colony of ANTS devouring it. So, off to the trash it went. I don't know what it is about my house that is attracting all of these pests? First the lice, now the ants! I hope nothing else invades before the holidays!
