Cheese Coma

Murphy has gotten to the age where he has decided that he doesn't need a nap everyday. However, on the days he decides to skip his siesta he can barely stay awake through dinner. I guess the mac-n-cheese is a sleep inducer. 

And the Award Goes To.....

REESE 

Reese had a BIG night on Monday. It was Awards Night at school and soccer and she came away with 3 awards.

1. The Principal's Award for having straight A's ALL year

2. Leadership Award (don't know exactly what that is for but it sounds good)

3. Player of the Year award for soccer

We are very proud of her for all of her hard work at school and on the soccer field. She takes her work and play very seriously and is always working to improve herself. Keep up the good work Girl!

They got new summer do's.

Whit did NOT want to go to the barber shop so he insisted that Poppy give him a haircut like Brett.

I am not crazy about Whit with a crewcut but I did not feel like arguing with him so I caved.

It is only hair and it will grow back, plus it will be cool for the summer.

Murphy did go to the barber and looks very handsome especially since we can see his eyes again.

Yes, here we all are taking the obligatory Mother's Day photo. The fact that all 7 kids are in 1 photo is amazing. So despite the fact that we are NOT all gussied up in our Sunday best I will be thankful that we are all present. My Mother's Day was uneventful- the best part was that I didn't have to take anyone anywhere- Can I get an AMEN!!! I also did some spring cleaning and purging- LOVE THAT!!! And of course I was showered with lots of goodies and cards from my offspring.

Murphy the Sheepdog

It has become apparent that Murphy is in need of a HAIRCUT! I haven't seen the kids eyes in a month. He is constantly wiping his hair out of his eyes but it just falls right back in his face. His look reminds me of "Sam the Sheepdog" from Looney Tunes (never knew his name was "Sam" until I googled the image)- hey , you learn something new everyday. Another piece of useless information taking up precious grey matter in my brain.

Tennis Anyone?

Griffin completed his 5th season as a Varsity tennis player. His team lost in the quarterfinals of state play-offs. He had a really good season with a singles record of 16-3 going undefeated in his region matches. Not bad for a kid who plays tennis "just for fun"!

Garden Tour

We took a quick trip to the Gardens at the zoo to check out the new kids area. Whit and Murphy had fun running around in the little house and checking out the fish and tadpoles in the koi pond. We also saw the "Yucca" tree? in bloom- apparently that only happens once every hundred years or so.

Strawberry Fields Forever

It is that time of year again. The strawberries are ripe for the pickin' so the little boys and me headed out with Gram to pick some of that sweet strawberry goodness. Luckily, we went early before it got too hot. Whit was a champion picker but Murphy was more interested in every piece of farm equipment and passing truck to get into the actual picking. When he finally decided to pick some it was rapid fire and he picked everything he could get his hands on- leaves, weeds and unripe strawberries. We managed to fill up 2 big buckets before we went on our merry way. Definitely a good time but let me just say I am glad I am NOT a farmer! Way too much work!

It's the Final Countdown

We are close to the finish line- In other words, SOCCER season is ALMOST over and we are all still standing! I think the girls combined had 8,000 practices and 3,000 games in the past 4 months (ok, maybe that is a bit of an exaggeration but you get my point!). They all played well and improved their soccer skills. We have a few more games this week and then it is on to try-outs for next year and a few weeks off until summer training begins. Seriously, I think my kids have played more games and had more practices in one season than I had in my entire career! Carson's HEADER that she almost scored on Notice the size difference between Reese and her opponent! No backing down from Reese Love the PIGTAILS!!! Good Tackle! Until next season....
