Funny things 4 year olds say

Brett: "Mom, when I get married and have a wife, I am going to ask her if she wants to                    come and meet you."

Brett: " You know mom, when I get married I am going to live here with you and Pop                        forever and if she doesn't like that- well too bad for her!"

Mom: "Well, if you live here where are you going to sleep?"

Brett: "I'll sleep on the top bunk and my wife will sleep on the bottom bunk"

Brett: "Mom, you are the best Mom in the whole entire world......(pause)....
What do I get for saying that?"

Mom: "How about a big hug and kiss"

Brett: "No. How about a new action figure?"

Brett after coming home and playing with some visiting chihuahuas at Gram's house and feeling guilty:

"I am sorry Parker (our dog), I admit it, I was petting another dog! But don't worry because you are the best dog in the whole world!"

Video Games

Brett loves action heros! He has found some online Marvel superhero games that he likes to play and he is "teaching" Whit how to play. Is 1 too young to be addicted to video games?

Zoo Fun

Yummy Ice Cream

Merry-Go-Round Fun

BUBBLES!!!

Gram and Grandpa enjoying a tasty meal

We went to the zoo for a free night of fun with Gram and Grandpa M. They had food and music and free rides on the Merry-Go-Round so we took advantage of it and rode it 5 or 6 times. We also got yummy ice cream to complete the fun!

Popsicles

There's nothing like a cool, refreshing popsicle on a hot summer day. My kids can go through a box in a couple of days. Here is a photo of them enjoying a few popsicles in the driveway- Did I mention that it was 9:30 am? Popsicles for breakfast- that's healthy, isn't it?

More "Naughty"

Whit is now just tall enough to reach the ice/water dispenser on the fridge and he knows how to use it! Luckily, it has a lock button so we just have to remember to lock it or we end up with a puddle on the floor.

Lollipop, Lollipop, Oh Lolli Lolli Lolli, Lollipop!

What could be "sweeter than candy on a stick"? Whit was thrilled when I gave him this HUGE lollipop. He has never sat so still for so long! Unfortunately, he was incredibly sticky when I finally extracted it from his hands so he had to go straight to the tub.

Edventure

Last week I took Carson, Hadley, Brett and Whit to the kids museum downtown. We usually go a few times a year and the summer is a good time to go because you can escape the heat but the kids can still run around and burn off some energy.

Popeye

Griffin

Brett

Whit

For some reason all 3 boys have gone through a period where they make this crazy 1 eye open-1 eye closed smile when they got their pictures taken. It reminds me of Popeye's face. I wonder if it is genetic?

Mowing Men

Griffin  summer 1997  2 1/2 years old   Winston-Salem

Brett   May 2006     2 1/2     Fairview

Whitaker    July 2009    1 1/2     Columbia

All 3 of the boys have enjoyed mowing the yard with Pop. Brett has definitely been the most enthusiastic mower so far but Whit is a close second. Griffin liked to mow when Poppy was mowing but was much more interested in playing some sort of ball game. Brett and Whit, on the other hand could mow all day long!

Dinner concoctions

Last Friday Carson and Reese wanted to make their own dinner. I am all for independence plus I was more than willing to let them do it so I would have two less plates to fix. They asked if there were any limits and I said "No" since it is summer and our fridge was pretty bare. Well, Carson loves sandwiches and I think she put everything we had in the fridge on her roll- meat, cream cheese, pickle, onion, lettuce etc. She said it was good and made herself another one. Any one who knows Reese knows exactly what she went for- Chocolate and Peanut butter. She made faux burgers out of vanilla wafers and peanut butter and of course a chocolate ice cream dream with fudge topping and cool whip! So healthy I know!

Camper of the week

Reese and Carson went to soccer camp this week and Reese won the award for "Camper of the Week". The coaches were impressed with her hustle and tenacity (chip off the old block-if I do say so myself!) and the fact that she was able to play so well against kids 2 & 3 years older than her. Carson was a bit miffed that she was not awarded for her fine skills as well but she seems to have gotten over it-we hope!

July 10, 1993

Yes we are old! Today is our 16th wedding anniversary. We have had a very busy 16 years. We have had 11 moves, 5 houses bought/sold, 6 kids, 2 dogs (not many but the girls are hoping to add to this number), countless gray hairs, numerous wrinkles and a few extra pounds on one of us but I won't mention names since we all know who they belong to! Overall, the past 16 years have been good and we hope to have many more enjoying our many blessings!

4th of July

We had a very quiet 4th. we just hung around the house and went to the pool. No fireworks unless you count all the ones that our neighbors lit well into the night! Parker was not at all happy with all the noise and had to cuddle up in bed with us to calm his nerves.

Basket Boat

Brett and Whit in their "boat". Don't all kids love to do this at some point in their lives! Of course, they love for mom to zoom them around the house in it which is a bit hard on the old back and not so great for the wood floors. Plus it makes the dog go crazy so we have to limit our trips around the house.

Flip-Flops

Whit loves to "wear" everyone's flip-flops. He hasn't quite figured out how to get his toes in the right spot but he tries so hard. He usually ends up tripping and falling over because he has his foot in sideways. I guess he will figure it out one of these days.

Brownies

Brett & Whit helped me make Brownies. Boy do they love the batter! I don't know why I even bother to bake them because they would prefer to just eat them straight from the mixing bowl.

Aqua-Man

Whit tried on some goggles for us. He usually likes to chew on them but this time he actually put them on and let us get a picture.

Father's Day

Just a picture of the kids with Kevin on Father's Day. We didn't do much since we left for the beach the next day but Kevin & Griffin did get to play golf so I guess it was a good day for him.
